South Bay Lakers guard RJ Davis has earned recognition as one of the G League's top first-year performers, securing a spot on the 2025-26 All-NBA G League Rookie Team. The announcement marks a significant achievement for the 24-year-old playmaker who delivered a standout debut campaign with the Lakers' affiliate.
Davis becomes the ninth player in South Bay Lakers franchise history to receive this honor, joining an elite group of prospects who have made immediate impacts in the development league. His selection reflects a consistently productive season that showcased both scoring prowess and playmaking ability.
The rookie guard appeared in 13 Tip-Off Tournament games, making 10 starts while averaging 18.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 30.6 minutes per contest. His performance during the regular season proved equally impressive, with Davis averaging 18.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists across 36 appearances while shooting an exceptional 45.9% from three-point range.
Davis's offensive consistency was remarkable throughout the campaign. The talented guard reached double figures in scoring in 38 games, including 24 performances of 20 or more points. He recorded four 30-point games and one 40-point outburst, demonstrating his capability as a high-volume scorer.
The North Carolina product also displayed versatility with multiple standout performances. He posted two double-doubles during the season—on December 27 at Oklahoma City and January 24 against Mexico City—and achieved a triple-double on January 29 versus Salt Lake City with 30 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
That triple-double performance against Salt Lake City earned Davis NBA G League Player of the Week honors for games played from January 26 through February 1. His remarkable week continued when he followed up with a career-high 45 points against the Stars on January 31, adding five rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two blocks in a complete performance.
Davis's exceptional season also earned him an invitation to participate in the NBA G League Next Up Game during NBA All-Star 2026 in Los Angeles, further validating his status as one of the league's most promising young talents.
The recognition places Davis in position to potentially earn NBA opportunities after demonstrating professional readiness through his efficient scoring, playmaking, and consistent production throughout his rookie G League campaign.
