The NBA G League announced its annual All-League teams on April 7, 2026, with Rio Grande Valley Vipers standouts Tristen Newton and Daishen Nix both earning recognition for their exceptional performances throughout the 2025-26 season.
Newton, a Houston Rockets two-way player, received First Team honors after a dominant campaign that saw him average 25.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.9 steals across 49 games split between the Vipers and Wolves during the Tip-Off Tournament and regular season. The guard finished third in the league in scoring during the regular season with 25.6 points per game.
"Tristen's development this season has been remarkable," said a Vipers team official. "His ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor made him one of the most complete players in the G League this year."
During the NBA G League Playoffs, presented by Google, Newton contributed 16 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals across two appearances. His regular season performance also earned him an invitation to participate in the NBA Castrol Rising Stars game, showcasing his talents among the league's top young prospects.
Nix, also on a two-way contract with the Rockets, secured Third Team honors after putting together an impressive all-around season. The guard averaged 22.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 2.5 steals through 49 games with the Vipers, finishing the regular season ranked 12th in assists per game with 7.1.
"Daishen's court vision and playmaking ability were instrumental to our offensive success throughout the season," the Vipers coaching staff noted. "His improvement as a scorer and defender made him one of the most versatile guards in the league."
The postseason showcased Nix's elevated game, as he led the Vipers with 34.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 1.5 steals across two playoff contests while averaging 42.7 minutes per game. Like his teammate, Nix also received recognition during the season by participating in the 2026 NBA G League Next Up Game presented by AT&T.
The honors reflect the strong developmental environment within the Rockets' organization, which has utilized the G League to cultivate talent through its Rio Grande Valley affiliate. Both players demonstrated significant growth throughout the season, positioning themselves for potential expanded roles at the NBA level.
