Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant could be headed to the Miami Heat in a proposed three-player trade that would reshape both franchises. The 26-year-old guard has played just 20 games during the 2025-26 season, averaging his lowest point total since his sophomore year while shooting a career-worst 41% from the field.
Bleacher Report's Andy Bailey proposed the trade that would send Morant to Miami in exchange for Andrew Wiggins and Davion Mitchell. Both Wiggins and Mitchell joined the Heat ahead of last year's trade deadline, with Wiggins coming from Golden State and Mitchell from Toronto.
The trade would provide Memphis with significant salary flexibility to accelerate their rebuilding process. The Grizzlies already traded Jaren Jackson Jr. at the deadline and will finish this season below the play-in tournament seeds.
"At this point, given his robust history of injuries and suspensions, as well as his continued struggles as a jump shooter, the rebuilding Grizzlies should just be happy to be getting out of Morant's contract without taking on too much long-term money," Bailey wrote.
Morant still has two years and approximately $87 million remaining on his five-year, $197 million extension. His trade value has declined due to his injury history and past suspensions that limited him to under 80 games total across the last three seasons.
Wiggins and Mitchell represent the kind of reliable players Memphis could utilize. Both have played over 60 games for Miami this season, while only three players on the entire Grizzlies roster have reached that number.
The Heat would acquire one of the league's most dynamic offensive players when healthy, though availability remains a significant concern. Morant has never played 70 games in any of his seven NBA seasons.
Both teams appear to have motivating factors for considering the trade. Memphis seeks flexibility for their rebuild, while Miami sees potential high-reward value in a prime-aged guard who could become their new centerpiece alongside Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro.
With the Grizzlies headed toward a massive rebuild after dealing Jackson Jr. in February, all indications suggest Morant's time in Memphis may be concluding. The proposed trade would represent a calculated risk for Miami on a player whose talent has been overshadowed by durability concerns.
