TORONTO – On a night where offensive execution was paramount, the Toronto Raptors leaned on their superstar. Brandon Ingram delivered a spectacular 38-point performance, guiding the Raptors to a decisive 128-114 victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday night at Scotiabank Arena.
The game was a tale of two halves, defined by a pivotal third-quarter run that ultimately sealed the Heat's fate. After building a 69-50 halftime lead behind a dominant second quarter, the Raptors watched Miami storm back into contention. Led by Bam Adebayo’s all-around brilliance and a 40-point quarter, the Heat chipped away, threatening to turn the game on its head.
However, just as Miami closed the gap, Toronto responded with a devastating flurry. Ingram, who had been efficient all night, shifted into an unstoppable gear, hitting a series of contested jumpers and creating easy opportunities for his teammates. The Raptors’ run to close the third quarter effectively extinguished Miami’s momentum, allowing them to control the final period comfortably.
“We knew they were going to make a push. That’s a well-coached, tough team,” Ingram said post-game. “We just had to stay composed, trust our system, and get stops. Once we got back to moving the ball, we were able to create the looks we wanted.”
Ingram’s stat line of 38 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists only tells part of the story. His ability to score from all three levels and his poised playmaking were the engine of the Raptors’ offense. Davion Mitchell orchestrated the offense with a game-high 11 assists to go with his 15 points, while Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Tyler Herro each chipped in 15 points. Despite the balanced scoring, Miami’s defense, particularly in the second quarter, proved to be their undoing.
The quarter-by-quarter flow was critical. Toronto’s 37-point second period, where they outscored Miami by 13, established a commanding lead they would never fully relinquish. Even when the Heat won the third quarter, the Raptors’ closing run ensured they maintained a double-digit cushion heading into the fourth, where they methodically closed out the game.
