A defensive slugfest has resulted in a 37-37 deadlock between the Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors at halftime on Thursday night at the Golden 1 Center.
The opening frame belonged to the home team, as the Kings used an early burst to establish a lead. Sacramento’s 27-point first quarter was highlighted by Malik Monk’s nine early points, providing the primary offensive spark. The Raptors, led by RJ Barrett’s aggressive play, kept pace but trailed by five.
Momentum shifted decisively in the second quarter. Toronto’s defense locked down, holding the Kings to a meager 10 points on 4-of-21 shooting. Sacramento’s offense stalled completely, going scoreless for over five minutes during one stretch. The Raptors’ 15-point quarter, though not prolific, was enough to erase the deficit by halftime. Barrett leads all scorers with 12 points, while Toronto’s rookie backcourt of Ja'Kobe Walter and Collin Murray-Boyles combined for 11 points.
For the Kings, Monk’s nine points top the sheet, with Precious Achiuwa adding seven points and five rebounds. The stage is set for a tense second half, where the first team to find an offensive rhythm will seize a crucial advantage.
