Caitlin Clark's financial compensation has undergone a transformative increase following the WNBA's landmark collective bargaining agreement. The Indiana Fever star will see her annual earnings rise from $85,000 to $528,000 for the upcoming season, according to salary tracking website Spotrac.
The substantial pay raise comes after the WNBA and its players association reached a new CBA on March 18 following extended negotiations. The agreement dramatically increases team salary caps from $1.5 million to $7 million, representing nearly a fivefold expansion of financial resources across the league.
Under the new structure, supermax contracts will reach $1.4 million while minimum salaries exceed $300,000. The average WNBA player salary will now approach $600,000, marking a significant step forward in professional women's basketball compensation.
Clark isn't the only beneficiary of the new financial landscape. Her Fever teammate Aliyah Boston, the first overall pick in the 2023 WNBA draft, will see her salary increase from $94,000 to $574,000. Angel Reese, recently traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream, will earn $350,000 compared to her previous $75,000 compensation.
The salary developments come as Clark returns to competitive basketball after an eight-month absence due to a groin injury suffered on July 15, 2025. She made her official comeback on March 11, competing for Team USA in the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup Qualifying Tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she helped lead a dominant 110-46 victory over Senegal.
After the game, Clark shared her emotions about returning to competition. "I thought I was going to be anxious," she told reporters. "I was just excited."
The Iowa product emphasized her lengthy preparation process, adding, "I've been preparing for this for a really long time. There's nothing like getting to run around out there and having fun, especially with a group of people as talented as this."
Clark and the Fever will begin their 2026 season with a home opener against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings on May 9. The team reports to training camp on April 19 and will play their first preseason game against the New York Liberty on April 25.
The substantial salary increases reflect the WNBA's growing revenue and increased valuation of player talent, particularly for standout performers like Clark who have driven significant viewership and attendance growth throughout the league.
