In a stunning display of defensive dominance, the Brooklyn Nets have completely overwhelmed the Sacramento Kings, taking a 48-23 lead into halftime at Barclays Center this Sunday afternoon.
The Nets controlled the game from the opening tip, racing to a 31-18 advantage after the first quarter. The second quarter was a full-on defensive masterpiece by Brooklyn, who held the Kings to a mere five points on 2-of-21 shooting from the field. A 14-0 Nets run spanning nearly seven minutes broke the game wide open, with Sacramento failing to score a single point for over six minutes of game time.
Brooklyn’s offense was balanced, led by 11 points apiece from Ochai Agbaji and Noah Clowney. Rookie point guard Nolan Traore facilitated with three assists. Conversely, the Kings’ offense was nowhere to be found. No Sacramento player reached double figures, with Maxime Raynaud’s seven points leading a team that shot just 23% overall and missed all 11 of its three-point attempts.
The Kings, who entered the contest as one of the Western Conference’s top offenses, must find answers during the intermission. The Nets, meanwhile, will look to maintain their defensive intensity and put this game away early in the second half.
