The performance showcased Atlanta's balanced offensive attack and defensive intensity, further solidifying their playoff positioning as the season enters its critical final stretch.
Jalen Johnson orchestrated the Hawks' attack with a near triple-double performance, recording 21 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. The young star's versatile contributions exemplified Atlanta's multi-faceted approach to victory. Zaccharie Risacher complemented Johnson's efforts with 19 points, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker contributed 18 points off the bench. CJ McCollum rounded out the scoring with 14 points as the Hawks' offensive balance proved too much for Brooklyn to handle.
The Hawks' current eight-game winning streak, which began with a victory over these same Nets on February 22, now represents the longest active streak in the NBA. This success has vaulted Atlanta into eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings, positioning them just 1 1/2 games behind seventh-place Toronto as the playoff race intensifies.
Atlanta controlled much of the contest, establishing a 57-50 halftime advantage. Johnson's second-half performance proved particularly crucial, as he added 14 of his 21 points after intermission when Atlanta needed to pull away. Jonathan Kuminga, returning to action after sitting out three games with a bone bruise in his left knee, demonstrated his value by grabbing nine rebounds in just 19 minutes of playing time, though he remains on a gradual return to full minutes.
The Nets, meanwhile, continue to struggle through a difficult stretch, dropping their 12th game in their last 14 outings.
