The Atlanta Hawks have added veteran depth to their frontcourt by signing center Tony Bradley, the team announced Monday. The move comes as the Hawks prepare for the postseason with four regular-season games remaining.
Bradley, 28, brings eight seasons of NBA experience to Atlanta after most recently playing for the Indiana Pacers. The 6-foot-10 center appeared in 38 games for Indiana this season, averaging 4.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 10.9 minutes per contest.
Originally selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 28th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Bradley has played for five franchises throughout his career. Beyond his stint with the Pacers, he has suited up for the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Chicago Bulls.
Throughout his 231-game NBA career, Bradley has maintained efficient scoring numbers near the basket. He carries career averages of 4.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 11.0 minutes per game while shooting 62.1% from the field.
The Hawks enter Monday's home game against the New York Knicks holding fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 45-33 record. With the playoffs approaching, Bradley provides experienced frontcourt depth behind starting center Clint Capela.
Bradley's signing comes at a crucial time for Atlanta as they look to solidify their rotation before the postseason begins. His defensive presence and rebounding ability could prove valuable against the Eastern Conference's top teams.
The terms of Bradley's contract with Atlanta were not disclosed by the organization. He becomes eligible for the Hawks' playoff roster should the team maintain its position in the Eastern Conference standings.
